The Heiveld land purchase campaign “Good land for fair Rooibos” has made it to the finishing line!!

Dear supporters of the Heiveld land purchase campaign,

We have done it!

A year after the campaign was launched in Germany the money to buy the Blomfontein property is in the bank and the transfer to the Trust is about to go through. This remarkable achievement has been possible thanks to the efforts of thousands of inspired people. Thank you!! You have inspired us too!

Late in 2015 our German partners undertook to support the Heiveld Cooperative to achieve their dream of acquiring the 2,497-hectare Blomfontein farm. For the small-scale farmer-members of Heiveld, the land purchase is an important step in achieving a self-determined future.

After an exciting campaign, we raised more than 64% of the funds have been raised through international “crowd funding” and contributions by trading partners in Germany and France. We would like to express a huge ‘thank you’ to all supporters: donations have been made by World Shops, One World groups, soda drinkers at festivals, NGOs, trading partners and numerous individuals who believe in fair distribution of land. The campaign collected over €175,000, which is a remarkable achievement.

The remaining R1,6 million (€110,000) that we needed to purchase the farm has been loaned by the Heiveld, with the help of a generous advance payment from Jardins de Gaïa of France. We would like express our deep gratitude to all of you who have contributed to this inspiring initiative. We are on the way to creating an exciting new future in the Suid Bokkeveld!!!!
